On this page, we would like to tell you a bit more about tyre balancing.

Benefits of balancing car tyres:

  • Prevents extra tyre wear
  • Road contact of your car is much better
  • No vibrating during steering
  • Better driving comfort

Signs that you have to get your wheels balanced:

  • Slowly moving back and forth of the steering at low speeds (25 to 45 mph).
  • Vibrating of the steering wheel or other parts in the interior at higher speeds (60 to 90 mph)

What is wheel balancing?

Balancing ensures that the wheels are as heavy as the whole circumference so that the car will not bump at a higher speed. In order to balance the wheels of your vehicle accurately, Challenger Tyres & Exhausts in Hoyland only uses the most modern electronic equipment. The technician can see on his computer display how much and where he will have to place weights to get the rims back into harmonious balance. With a well-balanced wheel, your road contact is better. This promotes the safety and driving comfort of your car. Well-balanced also means cost savings, because extra wear is prevented.

When do you have to balance your wheels?

We always balanced your wheels automatically after fitting new tyres. We also balance when the wheels are reassembled after repair. You should get your wheel balance checked after driving through a pothole or over a hump at higher speeds (weights can fall off the rim through the impact), and you must immediately get your wheel balancing checked at the first signs of vibration.

If you keep driving with an unbalanced wheel, the tyre can change its shape (it can become oval). This is usually no longer correctable with a balancing device. It is advisable to have the tyre replaced.
